London software company launches program to promote local charities

A London software company is giving local charities a fundraising and profile boost through a new spotlight on the company’s website.

HRdownloads, which provides human resources software to businesses, will promote one charity or non-profit group a month, showcasing how that organization supports its clients and the community.

The company will donate $1,000 to each organization in the HRdonates program.

Launching the program for May is Merrymount Family Support and Crisis Centre.

HRdownloads president Anthony Boyle said Merrymount helped him through a difficult time in his life.

“I was in an interesting family situation. I couldn’t both go to my new business and watch the kids,” said Boyle, the company founder.

“For two weeks, Merrymount offered to help me and provided daycare for me and my sons when I had nowhere to turn while I was trying to hit the phones and get this (company) off the ground.”

Organizations can be nominated for the HRdonates boost or apply for consideration.

The company plans to continue the program indefinitely, said Sharon Bunce, its chief of staff.

“We’re all one London, and creating an inclusive society means we’re building programs and building bridges so everyone can participate. We think it is so critical, especially during COVID-19, to shine a light on how important it is to support local.”
