Concours of Elegance, Hampton Court Palace, September 2022
The Concours is run by Thorough Events and is arguably the most prestigious event of its kind in the UK. James decided to enter his stunning Aston Martin DB6 Volante Vantage.
This extremely rare classic car was built back in 1969. Only 29 Vantage specification cars were built. This number includes left and right hand drive vehicles. The 29 car also includes automatic and manual gearbox cars. James’s DB6 Volante is the rarest, being the prized, right hand drive manual gearbox Vantage variant. His Royal Highness King Charles has his very own Aston Martin DB6 Volante Vantage which his mother Queen Elizabeth gave him for his 21st birthday.
Aston Martin have always had a huge following because of the their beauty. Perhaps the most beautiful era was 1960’s! With models such as the DB4 convertible driven by Michael Caine’s character “Charlie Croker” from the movie The Italian Job and more famously the DB5 driven by 007, James Bond.
There was no doubt that James’s DB6 Volante would gain a place at the event as the car has been meticulously restored to an extremely high standard by leading marque specialists. His car has also placed 2nd and 3rd place respectively as other AMOC concours events so was a worthy contestant. Cars are scrutinised heavily by Thorough Events committee before being given a place to ensure only the very best cars are on display which is open to the public to view. The Event is finished off by a black tie dinner hosted by the event patron Prince Michael of Kent.
James was extremely pleased to have his Aston Martin accepted and will be back again in 2023 with something just as exciting to display!
