A “cowardly” thug who punched a London Underground staff member before throwing their phone onto another platform has been jailed.

A “cowardly” thug who punched a London Underground staff member before throwing their phone onto another platform has been jailed.

Stanley Oragui refused to get off a Tube train which was due to go out of service at Cockfosters station, in Barnet on April 26 this year.

The 43-year-old, of Kentish Town Road, Camden, threw two punches at the male London Underground staff member after he picked up Oragui’s Tesco shopping bag and started to walk off the Tube in the hope he would follow.

The punches hit the employee behind the ear and, immediately after, Oragui pulled the staff member’s phone from his top shirt pocket – ripping it – and threw the phone onto another platform.
